Austin’s leftists voted Uber out of business. In Massachusetts, they’re going to tax them out of business. While using the taxes to support the old, unpopular taxi industry.
How progressive!

Not the human trafficers across the Texas-Mexico border called coyotes, but the animal kind. City of Austin is telling neighborhood associations the animal kind are becoming plentiful and to watch out for them wandering into yards in search of food and water. And then preying on small pets let outdoors.
“Haze coyotes when seen,” a city news release says. “And always supervise small pets when outside. Hazing keeps these adaptable animals wary of humans and less likely to hang around. Yelling, waving your arms, spraying the animal with a hose or tossing non-edible objects near it will encourage it to leave.”
Shoot. And I thought the Californicator invasion was the main thing we had to worry about.

“’To those listening, please, don’t stay home in November,’ he said. ‘Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.’
“At this, the crowd stirred in discontent. Heckling broke out in some quarters. Boos could be heard behind the applause. Cruz was unfazed. As he closed, the volume in the stadium kept rising, equal parts applause and booing. Some were aghast, others elated as it dawned on everyone that Cruz was going to finish without endorsing Trump, and that he had appealed to the delegates and voters at home to ‘vote your conscience.’
“Then Cruz smiled, waved, and walked off the stage. He knew exactly what he was doing.”
Cool, Ted. Maybe it’ll help down the line. But I’ll still vote for Trump, because the alternative would be so much worse.

What a, uh, cool idea. Idea being that the feds got so big and so out-of-control because of air conditioning. If those mausoleum-style office buildings of theirs were sweat factories, there’s be a whole lot less interest in occupying them.
Besides, eliminating air-conditioning (or making it so expensive that it effectively eliminates it) is what Wormtongue’s administration is after with its bans on coal and oil for producing electricity. All in the name of combating dubious climate change. The Democrat wing of the ruling class should set a good example for the rest of us. Believe it when you see it? Me too.

UPDATE: Instead, Lurch wants to ban our air-conditioning. Of course he does. A threat to the planet, doncha know. Not his, you understand. Not the air conditioners of the ruling class. Oh, no. Just ours.

To wit, sub-Queen Nancy Pelosi, the once and very probably future Speaker of the House of Representatives. So called. When she is shopping.
“The U.S. Capitol Police and the U.S. Secret Service provide dignitary protection for certain high-ranking members of the Federal Government, and this protection comes with the discretion to violate some state and local laws (illegal U-turns, parking in a red zone) under the guise of providing the best possible protection to the dignitary. In the case of Congresswoman Pelosi, she receives her protection detail from the Capitol Police. As the Chief of Police in St. Helena I can assure you we don’t like or condone their behavior, but I can tell you from personal experience that while they sympathize with the position they put us in, they will not alter their tactics to appease us.”
All animals on the farm are equal, we are told. But, clearly, some animals are more equal than others. Something tells me this will not end well.
