Feds further restrict opioids

Tar and feathers are too good for these big government motherfuckers. Who are, quite simply, always on the lookout for new ways to justify their fat salaries and skinny efforts. While the pols are too busy thieving to help. Rope. Lamp post.

“You can bet that if the powers that be were in intractable pain they would figure out a way to get the opioids. I have a mother-in-law with spinal stenosis who was in so much pain last week that she was crying vigorously. She’s a stoic who has hardly ever cried in her entire life, but the pain was unbearable. We were able to get her fentanyl patches and the pain is reduced. However, the doctors are limited in what they can give her and it is quite scary.” —veryskeptic

“What’s it like for the kids when your mom is suffering excruciating pain because the doctor’s afraid to prescribe her enough medication to deal with the pain caused by cancer? When it seems to take an act of Congress to get a prescription for synthetic THC to deal with nausea brought on by the anti-cancer medication? When your mother starves to death because she can’t eat for the nausea and pain? And you have to watch her suffer and die because some bureaucrat was worried she might become addicted.” —Rob Crawford

Mrs. Charm was also a stoic and she was also in bad pain from her lymphoma cancer but in her case it was more a stubborn refusal to buck bad medical advice than government interference. When she finally did agree to take the pills and later the injections she died in relative peace.

My grandfather, however, died in excruciating pain because his spinal cancer occurred at a time (1935) when the bureaucrats were just starting to restrict the opioids that had, throughout his life, been available without a prescription.

Big government is not your friend. Whatever lying dipshits like Obama and Clinton say.

Adios, Cassius Clay

His death really isn’t a surprise. His head injuries from boxing could have done him in years ago. But septic shock from a respiratory ailment (according to the ever-fallible snooze media) seems indicative of something besides the usual truth that hospitals are pretty dangerous places.

In the face of the usual storm of encomiums for a celebrity, let me add my iconoclastic two cents. He was a good boxer with a big mouth and a talent for self-promotion. I really did like watching him fight and laughing at his antics. He got the shit beat out of him occasionally and that was sad.

And his head injuries limited him ever after. But then I remember he dodged the draft without consequences. Not that many others didn’t as well. I didn’t like that either. But it didn’t endear him to me. The Muslim conversion was pretty stupid, about what you’d expect from a not-very-well educated American black. And the anti-Semitism that has flowed from it is what you get from Muslims.

His was complicated by having a Jewish grandson.

Adios, Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali. Enjoy perfect health in the hereafter where you will undoubtedly learn, if you pay attention, that Mighty Mo was a fraud all along. And, no, you don’t get any virgins or raisins.

File Under: All Religions Are The Same Nonsense

“On March, 8 2016, [Canadian Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau issued a statement on the occasion of International Women’s Day, in which he reiterated his commitment to fight gender-based violence against women…

“[Meanwhile] CIJnews investigation has revealed that a Muslim Dawah (propagating Islam) group operating a booth at Toronto’s Dundas Square continues unopposed to these days to hand out a book condoning wife beating in certain circumstances.”

Hey, Trudeau wouldn’t want to be called Islamophobic, now would he?

Those mass-murdering Clintons

The Hildabeast promises to work harder as president to eliminate guns. Guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens, that is. Criminals, by definition, don’t obey the law and she will never stop them from doing anything and she knows it.

It was Bill Clinton’s presidential signature on a 1990s law creating “gun-free zones” in schools that led to the current crop of mass murders from firearms in public schools and universities. Not that you will ever hear his power-hungry cuckold take any sort of responsibility. She who fought the women who tried to reveal his sexual sickness in crude gropings and attempted rapes as governor of Arkansas.

She who lied to the parents of the American dead in Benghazi that their deaths were caused by an Islam-criticizing video on YouTube when she knew it was terrorism straight up. She’s no more trustworthy than fast-talking Slick Willie himself. Whose lasting presidential image is of an intern the age of his daughter on her knees in the once-respected Oval Office.

Shomerim

I might not be supposed to post this, but the shomerim are not a secret society and I’m not really bragging, just mentioning something gentiles may find interesting about Judaism, historical and contemporary.

Bit tired this morning after being up most of the night. I pulled my shomer gig from midnight to 3 a.m. for a woman I never met. She was a member of my synagogue, Temple Beth Shalom, but there are too many members for me to have even seen all of them.

She died the other day and was to be buried within 48 hours. So Beth Shalom required shomerim (guardians/watchers) to sit with her in her plain (unpainted and unadorned) pine casket at Cook Walden Funeral home. I always take the midnight to 3 a.m. shift because few others want it or have time for it and being retired it’s pretty easy for me.

The ritual is thousands of years old. A matter of respect for the dead. Originally intended to keep insects and animals away from the deceased especially since, in Israel, no coffins were/are used. Remains are wrapped in linen and put in the earth. In the U.S., of course, the funeral lobby long ago paid off pols to require caskets. So the ritual is symbolic. But the respect is the same. And observant Jews use the next best thing to linen: a plain, pine casket.

You pull your shift of 2 to 2.5 hours on the premises of the funeral home, some of it in a special room with the casket, reading from Psalms aloud. You can take breaks away from the casket, get coffee and read other material on the Jewish way of death and dying. I needed two cups to stay completely awake until my successor arrived at 3 a.m.

Different shomerim believe different things. I believe the soul is a form of energy which stays with the body at least part of the time before burial, still trying to adjust to the fact of death and the soul’s eternal, immortal life. So part of the reason for the shomer’s presence is to be reassuring.

As shomerim say, none of us are thanked. The mitzva (commandment or good deed) is expected from those who can do it and the one for whom it is done cannot thank us. I am a little tired this morning but glad to have done my duty and, once again, forever changed.

Memorial Day 2016

BTexas

The battleship Texas with San Jacinto monument on the right. And my guys.

When you hear some unthinking person wish everyone a “Happy Memorial Day,” what’s really being said is “Happy Dead Soldier Day.” T’ain’t kosher, is it Mrs Pursel?

Guns made black civil rights possible

As this new book demonstrates, including notice of “the arsenal” the great author of non-violence Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. kept for self-defense.

“In This Nonviolent Stuff’ll Get You Killed, civil rights scholar Charles E. Cobb, Jr. reveals how nonviolent activists and their allies kept the civil rights movement alive by bearing—and, when necessary, using—firearms. Whether patrolling their neighborhoods, garrisoning their homes, or firing back at attackers, these men and women were crucial to the movement’s success, as were the weapons they carried.”

It’s ironic the first black (well, half-black) president is such a demon for disarming Americans. But the world’s greatest gun salesman didn’t grow up in the mainland U.S., nor experience Southern segregation and the KKK is only a story to him. Would reading this book change his mind? Has anything else in almost eight years? He is a man of conviction. Not to mention stupidity.
