Those rockets Iran sent to Hamas

“Take the rocket from Operation Pillar of Defense that hit a home in Rishon Lezion. That rocket destroyed one floor. This warhead would have destroyed the entire building.” —Israel Defense Forces.

While Iran pretends to be standing down its nuclear weapons development, its material support for terrorism continues without pretense.

Austin’s burgeoning Jewish choices

The black hats—or penguins if you want to be rude—are the ultra-Orthodox of Judaism, mostly found these days in New York and Jerusalem. But a growing number can be seen daily in our hilly neighborhood on the eastern slope of Austin’s northwest plateau. They’re the surface indications of a growing Jewish population and, therefore, Jewish choices hereabouts.

There’s the proximity to the Dell Jewish Community Center half a mile or so up the road from the rancho. It mainly offers a variety of secular, reform, and conservative services. All of which many of the Haredim lump with pagans and gentiles. Although there is at least one orthodox congregation there and an orthodox  Chabad-Lubbavitch center a mile or so farther north, as well as the student one a few miles down to the southeast of the neighborhood at the University of Texas.

The kosher meat market tucked into a corner of our local H.E.B is a nicety. And, who knows, the diamond merchants amongst whom the Haredim are said to be proliferating might like to congregate. Confirmed for me by a gentile friend hereabouts who is also in the diamond trade. An unassuming fellow devoid of identifying costume except for his diamond pinky ring and the small, belt-holstered 9mm whose outlines are occasionally visible under his shirt. Hard to imagine the Haredim going armed—they’d need a concealed-carry permit from the state of course—but their permanent choice of black suit jackets would provide appropriate concealment.

Whatever the draw for Jews and their burgeoning choices hereabouts, I find the black hats comforting. I see them every Shabbat escorting their long-skirted, hair-covered wives and young children in their Saturday best, all walking in the general direction of the community center and back home again to the rental duplexes on a street a few blocks east of the rancho. But I have always been among the god obsessed, even in our seemingly secular age.

Dinesh the Israel hater

Ten days after he indicated in a public forum that he thinks Israel is an apartheid state and a liability for the United States, and despite being called on it by PJMedia, Dinesh D’Souza hasn’t said an additional word about it—in public or on his blog.

“With a large college audience, and facing an open Israel hater and supporter of the BDS movement in [unrepentent terrorist] Bill Ayers—who of course agreed with the questioner, and condemned Israel as an apartheid State–D’Souza had a great opportunity to explain why morality compels one to support the state of Israel. D’Souza had a great opportunity to push back against the atrocious lie that Israel is an apartheid state, similar to racist South Africa. He did not do that.”

I take his silence to mean that he meant what he indicated, that he also believes Israel is an apartheid state and a liability to the U.S. He’s welcome to his opinion, of course, as I am welcome to mine and I’ve removed the link to his blog from my blogroll and will stop promoting him in any way.

Lurch mocked

How appropriate. Traitor John, as some of us Vietnam veterans with long memories still refer to the lying, backstabbing sumbitch Kerry, is getting mocked on YouTube (in Hebrew with English subtitles) by Israelis with a delicious sense of humor.

Which is more than Lurch has. Wormtongue’s other minions (Susan Rice among them) and the state department’s lifetime bureaucrats in American’s richest city (yes, that would be Washington, D.C., where no matter what happens to the economy, everybody still gets pay, bonuses and raises) are demanding that Bibi reign in his citizens. Pathetic.

Imagine if Bibi tried to get Wormtongue to stomp on some American comedians for mocking him. Can’t imagine it? Me neither. Only our witless Democrat overlords are that hypocritical. But Lurch has a very thin skin. Who knows? He may have threatened to resign otherwise.

UPDATE: I was hoping for something like this back a year ago when Clown Kerry became secstate. I am more than pleased. Great comeuppance!

Holocaust Memorial Day

If these Israeli F-15 Strike Eagles in formation over the Nazis Auschwitz death camp aren’t memorial enough for you (they are for me) there’s the many more than a thousand words of today’s Times of Israel.

Lurch insulted, boo hoo

Our clown secretary of state, owner of a “lucky hat” he allegedly acquired in Cambodia (one of Jean Fraud Kerry’s more imaginative lies), got told off in colorful terms the other day by Israel’s defense minister Moshe Yaalon:

“Secretary of State John Kerry,” Yaalon reportedly said, “… who operates from an incomprehensible obsession and a sense of messianism — can’t teach me anything about the conflict with the Palestinians…The only thing that might save us is if John Kerry wins the Nobel Prize and leaves us be.”

It would be remarkable if Lurch could teach anyone about anything, knowing as little as he does about much of anything except gaming the system to go home from Vietnam early, catsup and yachting. But the clown posse in Washington demanded that Yaalon apologize and that Bibi, the PM, denounce his minister for, uh, telling the truth.

Yaalon, bless his heart, made a classic non-apology apology if Lurch “was offended by words.” No words yet from Bibi. Crybaby Lurch, meanwhile, is still in hot pursuit of a meaningless “agreement” between the Israelis and the Palestinians that will ensure his Nobel Peace Prize. And why not? They gave one to Wormtongue just for getting elected. They even gave one to Arafat, the world’s oldest terrorist, for, what? Oh, yeah, for shaking hands with another Israeli PM.

By all means they should give one to Lurch for getting his feelings hurt.

Arik, R.I.P.

Ariel (Arik) Sharon was “…a father of Israel. A man who minced neither his words nor his actions. He is loved, he is hated, he is revered. Death will not change the range of emotions and opinions held on this son of Israel. He will be remembered as a man who saved Israel when she needed him most, more than once.”
