The male prerogative, part II

I got a chuckle when I saw this. Mom didn’t like it when I showed Mr. Boy that he didn’t have to run into the house evey time he needed to micterate (look it up) but could take advantage of the hereditary privilege. Now I see him at it in the backyard from time to time. Sometimes it’s even necessary. 😉

Barry: the lost first draft

"As far as I could tell, I was the only black man in the company, a source of shame for me, but, hey, let’s face it: pretty good job security. After a while I realized I didn’t even have to hide the Tetris games."

Much better than the rewritten autobio that was finally published. More true-to-life, you know?

Funny man in town

If the weekend show that starts today wasn’t on the other side of town, I might actually drop by to see the satire master of the Web. As it is, I have Mr. B. to tote around to Little League stuff and etcetera. So I’ll wait to read his followup post on how he found our fair city.

Meanwhile, you shouldn’t miss this profile of the show’s host, Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer. For a hole-in-the-wall that’s hard to turn around in even when it’s not crowded, CC is an international legend.

Adios Second Amendment

One more reason Barry will lose Texas, et al: He opposes laws allowing you to carry a concealed handgun. More on his unequivocal, but hardly rational, belief in free-fire zones.

Giants to midgets

When Dr. King was murdered, forty years ago today, a pall of shock fell over our almost-entirely white class at Infantry Officer’s Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga. His goal of changing hearts and minds certainly had affected all of ours. If anyone was racist enough to be glad–and many of us were Southerners–they hid it well. They knew they would find no approbation. We knew that a giant had passed. We didn’t guess there would be only midgets to follow.

MORE: The detail nobody remembers: Dr. King was a Republican. Or that a Republican won passage of the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act that banned segregation in stores and other "public accomodations."

Oink

The Pig Book rates the presidential candidates. Guess who’s the top porker? Snuffle, snuffle. Oink.

Mr. Unity’s distortions

The presidential campaign is young, but Barry already has a bad habit of prevaricating or outright lying. Even the MSM’s poobahs are calling him on distorting McCain’s remark about one hundred years in Iraq. Less attention is paid to Barry’s outright lie about not taking money from oil companies, when there’s proof that he does take money from their executives.
