Waiting for the new war in Iraq

Wormtongue’s attempt to whip ISIS with airstrikes is doomed to failure. Even World War II couldn’t be won from the air—except in Japan with nukes, which presumably even the mendacious Democrats aren’t craven enough to employ in Syria-Iraq.

So the ground troops the Progressives are avoiding sending back to Iraq (at least until after the November elections) are going to have to go back eventually. If ISIS only chose to burrow into urban areas (like Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Beruit) they could live through bombardment to fight another day.

Let’s just hope that, while we’re waiting for the tanks and troops to be sent back to the Iraq they should never have left in the first place, ISIS doesn’t acquire the weaponry to start shooting down our fighter-bombers and beheading a captured pilot or two.

UPDATE:  Meanwhile, in Britland, the delusion goes on: “Cameron described ISIS as ‘monsters’ and not Muslims because Islam is a religion of peace…” Oh, right. Sure doesn’t look that way in northern Syria just over the Iraqi border.

MORE: Meanwhile, ISIS seems to be using chemical weapons in Iraq—you know, some of those WMDs that weren’t there.

Daniel Lewin: 9/11’s first casualty

He was one of the one percent, an Internet billionaire and former IDF army captain who was murdered fighting back on American Airlines Flight 11 before the terrorists flew it into the World Trade Center’s North Tower.

In previous years I’ve highlighted the “falling man,” the terror of leaping away from fire and falling so far to the pavement below. But Daniel Lewin’s story also is worth the telling and, even more important, the hearing.

It’s an Israeli as well as an American story. Daniel was a light unto the world.

Qatar, now Turkey, backing terrorism

It should have been obvious when Lurch quixotically tried to halt Israel’s retaliation against the premeditated Hamas murders of three Israeli teenagers and subsequent rocket barrages by trying to enlist Qatar and Turkey in the effort.

But just in case anyone missed the point (Barry, we’re talking about your $11 billions arms deal with Qatar) Israel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has underscored it for them.

“Ya’alon, speaking at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya, expressed outrage that the international community would allow nations to back terrorism while remaining full members of respected international organizations such as the UN and, in Turkey’s case, NATO….‘The command center of Hamas’s overseas operations sits in Istanbul,’ Ya’alon said.”

I’d only quibble that the UN, aka the Dictator’s Club, is hardly respectable to any but the uninformed.

Those stolen airliners

Eleven airliners stolen from Libya’s international airport in Tripoli by Islamist militias are supposed to be our worry of the month—for next week’s 13th anniversary of you know what.

Except, as I recall, it took many months to train the eight pilots who suicided on 9/11 in New York, D.C. and Pennsylvania and all of them had advanced college degrees. I doubt these raggedy militias have eight baggage handlers willing to kill themselves. But time will tell, of course.

Wormtongue’s favorite terrorists

No, it’s not ISIS, despite his dithering on a “strategy” to take the head choppers on. When unloading a few tons of napalm on their formations would suffice. Except we might hit one of his (and their) allies, the Free Syrian Army.

Nope, it’s one of those sheikdoms, the kind the Worm likes to bow to. In the case of the Emirate of Qatar, however, he also has passed along to these enablers of Hamas, etc., an $11 billion arms deal.

Who knows where those arms will end up? Like the ones we already give the FSA and, through them, the ISIS head choppers, nowhere good, that’s for sure.

ISIS in El Paso

Well, across the border in Ciudad Juarez, apparently, but that’s as close to El Paso as nevermind. Recalls to mind the old Kinky tune “I’m just another asshole from El Paso.”

So there’s this secret federal alert according to Judicial Watch: “…government sources reveal that the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) is confirmed to now be operating in Juarez, a famously crime-infested narcotics hotbed situated across from El Paso, Texas. Violent crimes are so rampant in Juarez that the U.S. State Department has issued a number of travel warnings for anyone planning to go there. The last one was issued just a few days ago.” (The sources-say alert is denied, of course, by Obamalot.)

Texas state law enforcement, while not seconding Judicial Watch’s claim, nevertheless has alerted its troopers to the potential threat from ISIS.

Advice to ISIS: Don’t cross the border in your menacing black outfits, complete with masks and green Islamic headbands. You will be shot on sight, as likely as not by civilians who are usually armed and will now be anticipating clowns in funny clothes that call to mind the uproars in the Middle East.

Carrying AK-47s are a dead (so to speak) giveaway, too. No finesse, no future. Just sayin’

Refused arms behind Gaza pullout?

It seems Obamalot, the most secretive administration in a long time, is still refusing to resupply munitions to Israel—which could be a major reason for the controversial ceasefire with Hamas. Seems, we say, because Wormtongue & Co. admit nothing, leaving speculation and tea-leaf reading as the only options.

“It has been two weeks since The Wall Street Journal first reported that the White House had been caught off-guard by transfers of military equipment from the Pentagon to the IDF in the course of Operation Protective Edge.

“According to that report, the administration responded to the surprise by tying up further arms transfers in an additional multi-agency review process. Some transfers requested by the IDF have since been released, but a request for additional Hellfire missiles remains unfulfilled.”

Wormtongue’s unsavory animus for Israel is telling. He may not be a Muslim as his more hysterical critics allege but he obviously prefers them to Jews.

OTOH, I have trouble imagining how those missiles could be more accurate than artillery, especially on Gaza where the coordinates of every building could be (and undoubtedly are) known down to a scale of inches. Or is the IDF short of artillery rounds as well?
