The recent cooperation by both of our corrupt political parties in cutting military retiree income, including war-disabled retirees, is an ominous warning we ignore at our peril.
So far (how ironic is this) militant lesbian feminist Camille Paglia is the only one I’ve seen take up the challenge.
“The entire elite class now, in finance, in politics and so on, none of them have military service—hardly anyone, there are a few. But there is no prestige attached to it anymore. That is a recipe for disaster,” she says. “These people don’t think in military ways, so there’s this illusion out there that people are basically nice, people are basically kind, if we’re just nice and benevolent to everyone they’ll be nice too. They literally don’t have any sense of evil or criminality.”
I also think people are basically kind and cooperative. But I know that some are not and so I own guns and am ready to use them if need be. But then I’m also a veteran. Fortunately not a disabled one, having to depend on our lying political class.
The elite will learn. Wormtongue won’t be in the White House forever. We just have to hope that too many of us don’t have to learn with them. But I fear that as their pathetic attitudes trickle down to corrupt the tiny fraction of the populace still eager to serve, conscription will have to come back. And if you think the military is expensive now…
Paglia’s take on this and many other contentious topics is part of a larger interview you’d do well to read. Who else is championing the old-fashioned masculine virtues? Other than Duck Dynasty, I mean.
She isn’t the first to make this argument, but she does it better than most: “Primary-school education is a crock, basically. It’s oppressive to anyone with physical energy, especially guys,” she says, pointing to the most obvious example: the way many schools have cut recess. “They’re making a toxic environment for boys. Primary education does everything in its power to turn boys into neuters.”

Why, indeed. The Dems will say it’s her turn. They’ll ignore the rest:
“She has more sooty baggage than a 90-car freight train. And what exactly has she ever accomplished — beyond bullishly covering for her philandering husband? She’s certainly busy, busy and ever on the move — with the tunnel-vision workaholism of someone trying to blot out uncomfortable private thoughts. . . . ”
What has she ever done for anyone except thieve and lie?
Even as secretary of state, she just mailed it in. Benghazi should have destroyed her, or at least her subsequent tantrum about it before Congress. But they won’t. The Democrat media will never remind voters of either event nor ask her any tough questions. She’s one of them, after all.
As for the voters, well, here’s where it gets really cynical: she’s got a uterus, and to millions of unthinking, low-info sister uteri, that is plenty enough. I know several of them.
Plus, of course, she has money and pow-wer, via Slick Willie and their corrupt, tax-evading family foundation. When it comes to the IRS, Democrats walk.
Camille Paglia, an art historian whose name is familiar, though I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by her, calls Obamacare “a Stalinist invasion,” principally because it will be enforced by legions of new IRS agents.
Ms. Paglia, whose very interesting rant on the subject begins near the 12 minute mark on this good interview of her by Instapundit Glenn Reynolds, says she is a Democrat who voted for Obama (like a lot of people in 2008) because she thought he was a moderate who would improve race relations.
Instead, as she puts it, he is a statist and possibly the most divisive racial figure in American history (Trayvon, the thug son he never had, remember?) who deserves to lose. In fact, she wants the Democrat party “shattered” and rebuilt because it is the home of effete liberals who have no notion of how the working class they pretend to champion actually lives and who only wish to pile on more and more government regulations to make all of our lives smaller. While they roll in the dough from our taxes. Vote Romney!
UPDATE: Not enough of us did, vote Romney, I mean. So we’ll have to get ready for our new, higher taxes and much longer times waiting for a doctor’s appointment. At least we’ll have free contraceptives. Gosh, what a deal.
Camille Paglia is a Rush Limbaugh fan?
"As a student of radio and a longtime listener of Rush’s show, I have gotten a wealth of pleasure and insight from him over the years."
She especially likes the way "he goes his own way," and, in particular, his "feminazi" rants.
