The real blood-for-oil

It’s been so long since Bush’s speech about not tolerating governments that support terrorism that even he has forgotten it. Else why his latest call for continuation of the long-discredited "peace process" between Israel and the bloodthirsty, terror-sponsoring and promoting Palestinians? Not only that, but he sends the Palies $190 million in aid, which everyone who stops to think about it knows only goes to more arms, ammo and suicide belts. Presumably, it’s all about oil. Keeping the Saudis and Jordanians and other Arabs believing the US is "trying" to resolve the "Palestinian problem," so that our oil keeps flowing without interruptions. The oil’s obviously important, but being in the pocket of the Saudis and the Palestinians ain’t hardly. You have to wonder how much money the Saudis will be paying W when he leaves office. After all, they are one of the biggest backers of his daddy’s library at Texas A&M.

UPDATE  I’m quite wrong, says Israeli scholar Michael B. Oren in the WSJ: "The president isn’t selling out Israel."

That peace prize

Tinkerty Tonk notes the recent Palestinian sacking of Arafat’s belongings, including his Nobel Peace Prize. She’s right. The world’s oldest terrorist won’t miss it. He’d probably even be pleased to hear that it will fetch enough money to buy some more explosives, ammo, etc. The usual Palestinian goods.

Recruiting children to die

Why recruit your child to be a suicide bomber? A new documentary lets Palestinian parents explain. The filmmaker, an aspiring lawyer who stays in the background, knows a lawsuit when she sees one:

"I was thinking, ‘You know, there’s a legal argument here that no one is making, which is that the suicide bomber himself — 18 and under — is as much a victim as the Israeli civilians being killed,’" she said. ‘These kids are not doing this of their own accord.’"

Meanwhile, the rockets rain down on Sderot. The IDF hesitates to invade Gaza because they think Syria will attack this summer. And British academic leftists, chattering endlessly about the ‘peace process,’ are boycotting Israel.

War criminals allege war crimes

This would be amusing, if it wasn’t so pathetic, Hamas outrage at the UN over 18 Gaza civilians killed by Israeli artillery trying to counter the Hamas rocket shooters who’ve been bombarding Israeli civilians in surrounding towns every day for months.

This time, even al-Reuters doesn’t try to overlook the obvious.

"’Although the Palestinian civilians killed in this incident may have been killed by Israeli fire, they are in fact the victims of Hamas terrorism,’ Carmon added, referring to the militant movement heading the elected Palestinian government, which refuses to recognize Israel or renounce violence."

Given it’s the longtime anti-Israel UN, though, you can’t be sure it won’t produce something.
