The Democrat Depression, Part Deux

Wonder why we’re enduring a now 6-year jobless recovery and very likely even worse to come? Part of it, according to a new international tally, is because we are close to the worst among industrialized nations in our tax burden on business: 32nd out of 34. Only better than Portugal and France.

“Since capital is mobile and businesses can choose where to invest, tax rates that are too high ‘drive investment elsewhere, leading to slower economic growth,’ as the Tax Foundation puts it.” Simple, really. Econ 101.

But don’t expect the Democrats to admit it. They love to tax. At least you can enjoy their rhetoric, if you don’t look behind the curtain. They’ll babble on about income inequality and how they’re going to punish those nasty one percenters who’re taking their investments elsewhere.

Feel better? They hope so. While always keeping their hands out under the table.

Qatar, now Turkey, backing terrorism

It should have been obvious when Lurch quixotically tried to halt Israel’s retaliation against the premeditated Hamas murders of three Israeli teenagers and subsequent rocket barrages by trying to enlist Qatar and Turkey in the effort.

But just in case anyone missed the point (Barry, we’re talking about your $11 billions arms deal with Qatar) Israel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has underscored it for them.

“Ya’alon, speaking at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya, expressed outrage that the international community would allow nations to back terrorism while remaining full members of respected international organizations such as the UN and, in Turkey’s case, NATO….‘The command center of Hamas’s overseas operations sits in Istanbul,’ Ya’alon said.”

I’d only quibble that the UN, aka the Dictator’s Club, is hardly respectable to any but the uninformed.

The climate change that isn’t

Global Warming (TM) a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party, is now officially nevermind.

“The climate-research establishment has finally admitted openly what skeptic scientists have been saying for nearly a decade: Global warming has stopped since shortly before this century began.”

As for the refurbished moniker, Climate Change, it’s been downsized, too.

“…the climate-research establishment…have made their predicament worse by implying that man-made climate change is so slow and tentative that it can be easily overwhelmed by natural variation in temperature—a possibility that they had previously all but ruled out.”

So, tell us again, Barry, why do us flat-earthers have to give up cheap coal-fired electricity so your EPA can declare carbon dioxide a pollutant? The science obviously isn’t settled.

UPDATE:  Even the first species said to be extinct because of GW/CC isn’t really, after all.

Refused arms behind Gaza pullout?

It seems Obamalot, the most secretive administration in a long time, is still refusing to resupply munitions to Israel—which could be a major reason for the controversial ceasefire with Hamas. Seems, we say, because Wormtongue & Co. admit nothing, leaving speculation and tea-leaf reading as the only options.

“It has been two weeks since The Wall Street Journal first reported that the White House had been caught off-guard by transfers of military equipment from the Pentagon to the IDF in the course of Operation Protective Edge.

“According to that report, the administration responded to the surprise by tying up further arms transfers in an additional multi-agency review process. Some transfers requested by the IDF have since been released, but a request for additional Hellfire missiles remains unfulfilled.”

Wormtongue’s unsavory animus for Israel is telling. He may not be a Muslim as his more hysterical critics allege but he obviously prefers them to Jews.

OTOH, I have trouble imagining how those missiles could be more accurate than artillery, especially on Gaza where the coordinates of every building could be (and undoubtedly are) known down to a scale of inches. Or is the IDF short of artillery rounds as well?

Our eroding political culture

“Seriously, I hate the lowdown argot of politicians nowadays. They seem to think they are in a pool hall, and not a nice one, either. Both parties are guilty. I personally don’t like to be addressed or described as ‘folks,’ like some backwoodsman from Andrew Jackson’s day. I don’t care for the expression ‘shout out.’ I don’t like to be told, ‘Read my lips.’ I’m sure you can think of others.”

Not off-hand, no, but I agree we are led by intellectual midgets (and moral ones, too) who copy each other relentlessly. I think it all started with Slick Willie and Her Lizardness and if she winds up replacing B. Hussein, it’ll be more of the same.

At least she probably wouldn’t wear shorts in public like the Great Divider does, being rather too flabby, not to mention the blue veins. More likely she’ll wear big-boy pants, the kind that go down to the shoe-top.

Meanwhile she’ll say stupid things about the “threat” of global warming while hypocritically flying about in “a $39 million, 16-passenger” carbon footprint called a Gulfstream G450. The climate warriors never walk their talk.

Israel to Obama: Go To Hell

Despite their famous arguments over Gaza, Bibi apparently has yet to say the above to Barry in so many words. He should, writes Arutz Sheva columnist Ronn Tossarian, and publically because, among other reasons, it would show the anti-Israel crowd that the Jewish state is not dependent on U.S. foreign aid.

King Scold (also known as the Great Divider) and his creature Lurch obviously think that because of what money the U.S. gives Israel they can tell Jerusalem what to do—including demand a ceasefire with its existential enemy Hamas.

In fact, says Tossarian, U.S. aid amounts to just 1.5 percent of Israel’s economy and, by U.S. law, most of it “must be spent in the United States on the acquisition of American defense equipment, services and training.”

Israel could do without it and, for the present would be wise to do so, not only because of Washington’s current hostility (freezing arms in the midst of a war shows Obama cannot be trusted) but also because it would show the world that “Israel is not America’s child, nor a vassal state.”

It was Zionist leader (and popular novelistZe’ev Jabotinsky who wrote in 1911 that “..there is nothing to apologize for, and nobody to apologize to – it is long overdue to respond to all current and future accusations, reproaches, suspicions, slanders and denunciations by simply folding our arms and loudly, clearly, coldly and calmly answer,‘Go to Hell!'”

Former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, a protege of Jabotinsky’s, was more eloquent in 1980 when he responded in writing to Washington’s criticism of the IDF’s bombing of Iraq’s nuclear power plant, obviously intended to make nuclear bombs:

“Now you once again declare that you are punishing Israel. What kind of expression is this — ‘punishing Israel’? Are we a vassal state of yours? Are we a banana republic? Are we youths of 14 who, if they don’t behave properly, are slapped across the fingers? Let me tell you who this government is composed of. It is composed of people whose lives were spent in resistance, in fighting and in suffering. You will not frighten us with ‘punishments.’ He who threatens us will find us deaf to his threats. We are only prepared to listen to rational arguments.

“You have no right to ‘punish’ Israel — and I protest at the very use of this term.

“The people of Israel have lived 3,700 years without a memorandum of understanding with America — and it will continue to live for another 3,700.”

Of all American presidents and secretaries of state our current iterations (who, thankfully, will be out-of-the-business in 2017) need reminding of this.

Why I’m not writing about Ferguson

Stacy McCain sums it up very nicely:

“The only reason the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, has become The Biggest Story in [the] History of the Whole Freaking World is that (a) Brown was black, and (b) the cop who shot him was white.

“That’s it — the whole story.”

And if the races were reversed: white victim, black shooter, cop or not, the dishonest media (remember Trayvon’s primary-school pix?), the usual race-baiters, the Great Divider and his criminal AG, would ignore it. Completely.

Via Instapundit.

UPDATE:  One thing is for sure: Brown is another Trayvon, another low-life punk best left to the social workers: “Long before they encountered George Zimmerman and Darren Wilson, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown were on the downward path. Given their taste for dope, their instinct for defiance, and their predilection for violence, they were both likely to end up as killers or as killed.”
