The Silent Scream of the Asparagus

Nevermind cruelty to animals, or the angst of eating antelopes, unhand that carrot, sir!

Angriest wouldbe First Lady?

Michelle, rapping with the brothers and sisters, complains about victims of moving bars and thresholds, and the evil "they" who would keep her and Barry from winning the White House. Can you say Amen? (Amen.) I knew you could. More on Barry’s "bitter half." Elect him and get her lectures for four years.

Iron Man or wimp?

Hollyweird either does it again: "[M]ust we be tricked into sitting through another America-as-root-of-all-evil message?" Or it doesn’t: "Iron Man is not a pacifist movie, and it bends over backwards to be pro-military and pro-government, even in the midst of speeches about how weapons are evil." It’s a battle of the reviews. You decide. Not me. I already hate the sticky floors, and Mr. B. has enough fantasy in his life as it is.

Is Michelle the next Hilarity?

Christopher Hitchens unveils his tantalizing thesis that Michele Obama could well be the reason that Barry has been sitting in the fatuous, foaming Jeremiah’s pews for the past two decades, being married by him and having his two daughters baptised by him. If so, Barry’s candidacy would be hiding another bombshell besides Wright, Ayers and Rezko: that he secretly is a two-fer candidate like the Clintons before him. Yech.

It’s the character, stupid

And Barry, in his contradictory public handling of his twenty-year spiritual mentor, has shown that he doesn’t have much, if any. The Dems are about to nominate another charlatan. John Kerry was their "military" candidate who actually despised the military. Barry is their "racial healer" who, secretly, is just another now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t pol.

The liberal breakdown

I think the liberal breakdown, when McCain wins the presidency, will be much more severe than after Bush was re-elected. I know several whose worlds crashed and burned. Just wait’ll Barry swan dives.

McCain: More conservative than you think

More Burkean than, for instance, Gingrich: "To movement conservatives, McCain represented heresy. But to the conservative movement, he represented a return to home truth." —Jonathan Rauch
