Crazy Bernie would ban handguns

The Democrats’ favorite Socialist (the only one who admits it; and Ma Barker‘s only real opponent so far) Bernie Sanders has staked his new position on handguns: They should be banned, along with shotguns and any other so-called “self-defense” firearm. Can’t have the proles defending themselves, can we?

Thanks for the warning, Bernie. Although just how you’d ban them (if you were our Socialist king) remains to be seen. Somehow I doubt a presidential executive order like that would last long in the courts. But you never know.

Is Bernie an aristo? Not literally, I suppose, but in a real sense, yes. Afterall, he’s a career pol whose major interest (like all of them) is his own re-election, accumulating money and power and prestige.

The Socialism bit is just his means to his end. Or, more likely, Ma Barker’s.

Psst, Bernie. The gun grabbers are losing. Sure you want to align with them?

Carly Fiorina Shows Us How It’s Done

Speaking of abortion… Jake Tapper has become an abortion, buying into the whole Democrat wheeze now that he’s taking money from CNN, one of the dead-last cable newsies. But his latest target Carly Fiorina hung him out to dry.

Rush has the moment. It’s a doozy. Be sure to go here and read it all.

“So he’s asking Carly Fiorina, ‘What do you think about abortion law without exception rape or incest?’  It’s right in the Democrat media manual, how to entrap a Republican: ask about rape or incest.  So here’s what she said.  This is the first of two sound bites:

“Let’s talk about what extreme is.  It’s not a life until it leaves the hospital.  That’s Hillary Clinton’s position.  It’s Hillary Clinton’s position that a 13-year-old girl needs her mother’s permission to go to a tanning salon or get a tattoo, but not to get an abortion.  It’s Hillary Clinton’s position that women should not be permitted to look at an ultrasound before an abortion and yet people who are trying to harvest body parts can use an ultrasound to make sure that those body parts are preserved so that they can [be] sold.  That, Jake, is extreme.”

You probably didn’t see or hear this, unless you’re one of the minority who even pays attention to CNN, second only to MSNBC in the cable newsy cellar. Let alone Carly who, unfortunately, has no chance at the nomination. Which is a real pity because she’s just about the only one in the GOP who could beat Ma Barker.

The Baby Chop Shop

p-hood-menu-nrd-600

Well… they say it’s from unviable tissue but that really depends on the law in the state where Preventing Parenthood’s abortion clinics do, ahem, business. Some such laws do not restrict abortions to non-viable fetuses.

Indeed, the Baby Chop Shop gets much better prices the closer to birth the aborted infant is, because the organs are more mature. PP’s profits already are in jeopardy as advances in medical technology keep pushing fetal viability back into the second trimester when the organs are still immature.

And you can bet PP is quietly lobbying against a new move in Congress to outlaw all abortions after 21 weeks—as Texas law already does.

UPDATE: “O’Donnell said she worked for six months identifying pregnant women at Planned Parenthood who met the standards for fetal tissue orders and then helped to harvest fetal body parts after abortions at Planned Parenthood facilities,” in yet another video.

MORE:  Harry Reid doubles down. Who else? You know, that Nevada pol who got rich off, wait for it, “public service.”

Why I Avoid Medicare

For one thing I have the luxury of avoiding it. My pension allows me to pay for health insurance through my former employer if/when I need to do that. In the meantime, I participate in Mrs. Charm’s company policy which hasn’t yet been quashed by Obamacare. Then there’s always the VA, despite its sorry reputation.

Even the VA looks pretty good compared to Medicare. Back when I was a medical writer I learned that many doctors refuse to take Medicare. Primarily because it cheats them, putting their payments off even longer than some private insurance companies do. Then asserting that their bills are too high and undercutting even their expenses, never mind any hint of profit, which any business has to have to stay in business.

Bureaucrats don’t understand profit because all they need to do to get their money is to lobby their favorite pols to raise taxes. But Medicare has an even sorrier reputation when it comes to patients, which is the main reason I avoid them. They put off a sick person’s treatments with one bureaucratic delay after another. Long enough for many of them to die waiting. If, that is, they have no political muscle, the one thing you always have to have in dealing with the government.

You know, that thing our mendacious president and his party say we all do together, i.e. screw everyone who has no pull.

9mm vs 7.62

Two of those five slain Chattanooga military recruiters apparently were not defenseless. They were risking their careers carrying at least one unauthorized 9mm pistol and another kind not identified. They used them to defend themselves and others in returning the Jihadi’s AK-47 semi-auto rifle fire.

Of course they were at a disadvantage because they were ambushed. They didn’t know their lives were about to be on the line. And they were outgunned. The 9mm round has a slightly larger diameter than the  7.62 rifle bullet but the latter has more than twice the muzzle velocity and consequently more than four times as much hitting power. Explained here.

Nice to see post-attack gun sales rising and gun-owning citizens protecting recruiters while Barry Hussein’s Pentagon dithers (what else?) about legally arming them. It took him five days to authorize flying flags at half-staff. So far, all the recruiters who don’t carry illegally have got are those weenie “gun-free zone” decals on their front doors, which only impress the gun-grabbers.

UPDATE:  Barry Hussein’s “soldiers” ask the civilian guards to stop it. Good thing they can’t order them to stop it.

Golf in decline

Mr. Boy, whose interests appear and disappear with startling regularity, had best hasten to “the good walk spoiled.” It seems the activity that consumed his grandfathers and which he also briefly took to a year or so ago is in danger of disappearing before his adolescent interest revives:

“…about every number coming out recently regarding the state of the sport is a negative, with millennials — as in, young people, as in, the future of the game — in particular abandoning, or having no interest at all in [it].”

Too busy settling in to their parents’ basements, presumably, those parents who still have basements, thanks to our mendacious president’s economic sideswiping of the middle class he and his fellow Democrats proclaim to adore.

At least one person won’t be sorry to hear this news. Akaky of the Passing Parade has had enough of golf already.

Selling baby body parts

Aborted fetus body parts. Whew.

I’ve always favored abortion rights, and have known several women who had abortions. Favored so long as the aborted “fetus” was not viable. And viability has changed over the years since Roe v Wade, making 21 weeks now capable of survival and growth to maturity.

Many Democrats, including our mendacious president, however, want no restrictions at all. Wonder how they’ll feel about this wrinkle that apparently keeps Planned Parenthood in the black—so to speak, so many of their clients being black women.

On one level it makes sense. Why discard usable “tissue,” as the body parts trade prefers to think of it, which might help others live better lives? But linked to the whole controversy of abortion, well.

Via Fox News.

UPDATE:  Texas boyo Kevin Williamson: “Trafficking in fetal body parts is a federal crime, and of course Planned Parenthood denies that it is involved in any such thing. A spokesman for the organization, Eric Ferrero, says that Planned Parenthood doesn’t sell pieces of dismembered children for profit, but instead is ‘reimbursed’ for them.”

A distinction without a difference, but their Democrat backers will be persuaded. Those who require persuasion.

MORE:  “Delaying an abortion to sell parts at a higher price is illegal in theory but really, like the Hyde amendment, completely unenforceable in practice.”
