Science fiction maven Jerry Pournelle says reports of Chinese orbital success with the fuel-free electromagnetic spacecraft drive rank up there with the importance of Sputnik 1 in its day.
Others have their doubts about anything the ChiComs claim and that, despite tentative NASA ground confirmation of the EM drive’s usefulness, it’s any more than a new cold fusion hoax. Stay tuned.

Hanukah usually precedes Xmas. This year it started last night and continues to New Year’s Eve. The kiddie story is well known. The adult story not so much.
Used to be Christians complained about the use of Xmas literally taking the Christ out of Christmas. Then Wikipedia came along to inform them that Xmas is older than Christmas because the X is the Greek letter for Chi which stands for Christ. As old as the 16th Century, ‘y’all.
It was even used in magazine advertising in the 1920s. So have a merry.
Not that there hasn’t been a real war on Christmas, whatever the left says.

The harassment of the Trump family begins. Dimocrats being what most of them are, which is to say intolerant assholes who throw fits when they don’t get their way, Brooklyn lawyer Dan Goldstein, a gay Hildafelon voter, harassed Ivanka Trump and her children on a Jet Blue flight Thursday.
But what’s especially telling, and will ensure that this sort of thing continues for the next four years and beyond, is that the WaPo and other Dimocrat lap dogs sanitized the story.
The harasser’s “husband,” Hunter College professor Matthew Lasner used the word harass in his Tweet of the incident (“Ivanka and [her husband Jared Kushner] at JFK T5, flying commercial. My husband [Goldstein] chasing them down to harass them. #banalityofevil.”) but the WaPo made it seem far less confrontational.
A pattern we are sure to see repeated by these leftist masters of fake news.
Mr. Boy passed his DPS driving test Wednesday afternoon and is now a fully qualified, permanently-licensed Texas non-commercial automobile driver.
Later that night he made his first solo run in Mrs. Charm’s sedan to our local CVS to buy some Xmas stuff. Shrugged it off as being no big deal. But I doubt it. I remember my first one. He’ll drive the sedan henceforth because it’s an automatic and mine is a stick which he doesn’t know how to use.
