Society for the Preservation of Racism

Never heard of the SPR? The more familiar term is the Democrat Party. PJMedia’s Roger L. Simon explains:

“Increasingly, racism – and more generally the division of our country into racial and ethnic interest groups — is all the Democrats have. The rest of liberal/leftist ideology is disintegrating all around them, as fragile and illusory as the welfare state itself.

“Without racism – or more exactly the putative existence of racism – the Democratic Party would be an association of overpaid trade union executives, unemployed Occupy movement sympathizers and trial lawyers. In other words – mighty small.”

The myth of the racist slaying of the innocent punk Trayvon Martin, with his gold-capped teeth and gangsta hoodie, by a “white Hispanic” (a term never before seen in the news media) is merely the latest example of the Democrat and news media (but I repeat myself) need to preserve racism.

Oscar baloney

The usual Hollywood claptrap over the Oscars was on the front page of the daily, above the fold, so it didn’t just seep into consciousness when I gathered the thing off the lawn. I left it on the kitchen table for Mrs. C. and that’s when it whacked me between the eyes. Even though I didn’t read it.

I did read Roger L. Simon’s prediction that the winners forecast some sort of decline of the Sean Penns, Michael Moores, and other Lefty dirtballs who think there’s a premium on their political views. I wonder. I found more certainty in commenter cedarhill’s take:

“Funny thing, once you wean yourself off their TV shows, movies and newspapers they’re just not attractive and seem really, really simple and stupid. Try it. You’ll like freedom from Hollywood. Oh, and if you are compelled to watch something from them, make sure you pick it up on eBay or at a flea market or Goodwill or such. Let the Left support them.”

Indeed.

The Copenhagen schuck

I’ve done enough on AGW lately that I’m bored with it. But Roger L. Simon’s work at Pajamas Media on the silliness inherent in the Copenhagen climate summit is too good to ignore:

"The whole place is crawling with journalists like rodents in a pirate ship. One estimate I heard was thirty thousand. They line up for hours for to get into events only to find their accreditation is lost. This may be Scandinavia, but it is wildly disorganized."

Heh. In other words your basic hippie demo ("The whole world is watching!") only with snow and ice.

Hatin’ on Obamacare

The latest hater? Jeffrey S. Flier, the dean of Harvard Medical School, who says it is not real reform because it will only increase costs, not improve quality and, worse:

“Ultimately, our capacity to innovate and develop new therapies would suffer most of all.”

Stuff like this really beautiful new result: A one-shot gene therapy to help kids born blind to see.

UPDATE:  Then there’s always the plan to save money by telling women in their forties to skip the annual mammogram.

CNN in the cellar

Last place in prime time. Is that a surprise? Beats me. I stopped watching them years ago. Glenn Reynolds thinks it’s because of the way they bash or ignore conservative protestors. But that reminds me of a Roger L. Simon piece back in 2006:

"Of course, Blitzer is only a typical representative of his class. Nothing special or exceptional in any way, except for his success and longevity. Now some people call this class the ‘liberal media.’ I reject that idea and terminology entirely. There is nothing liberal about them at all. They are a rich, privileged class much like the bourgeoisie in a Bunuel movie (or Moliere, of course). What is ‘liberal’ is only a talking point to preserve their perquisites. Perhaps these values were there at some point, but that was decades ago in another universe. Now the real issues are good tailoring and homes in the country. Nothing should disturb that."

The disturbance has arrived. The viewing audience, well, the surviving portion that has not fled to the Web, is finally catching on and tuning them out. Lefty anti-military they are, for sure, but their sense of elite privilege also comes through clearly. And the CNN version no longer sells. Boo-hoo.

Cuba Si, Castros No

I tend to agree with Pajamas Media founder Roger L. Simon that Barry’s apparent imminent resumption of trade and ties with Cuba is probably a good thing, certainly for the Cuban people. They have suffered long enough under the heels of the Castro regime. So long as we don’t have to see the fatigue-wearing dictators strutting through the White House and bussing Lady Michelle.

The benefits of Blagomuck

Among them: the certainty that Hopenchange is no more than the latest political babble. That business-as-usual, which is to say, corruption by career pols, is the order of the incoming Chicagoland presidential administration.
