Feds crushing small business

This time they’re going after the boutique cigar business, all in the dubious name of public health.

“If you are still buying the anti-smoking crusaders’ propaganda that second-hand smoke is killing many thousands of people every year just ask them to point to a single study that tells you what level of exposure to second hand smoke is dangerous. They can’t tell you because it has never been measured in any of the so called ‘scientific studies’ which for the most part are simply surveys of people who have lung cancer and can remember being exposed to second hand smoke at some point in their life. It’s not science, it’s propaganda.”

The ruling class will always be able to find premium cigars. They just don’t want it to be easy for you.

The crook versus the racist

So some are styling the coming presidential election. The crooked Hildabeast versus the racist Trump. Gonorrhea or syphilis.

Except I think most people of whatever political stripe do believe that she’s a crook whereas whether he’s a racist or not entirely depends on your political viewpoint.

If Trump’s various tweeting peccadillos are racist, well, that’s the sort of nonsense the Democrat news media hangs on every Republican nominee every four years. If his alleged intention to build a wall on the southern border to at least slow down the waves of new, mainly-Hispanic illegals is racism, well shet my mouf and call me a racist, too, ’cause I’m all for the wall. The higher the better. Not that I ever expect to see one—certainly not in the Rio Grande Valley.

But it’s obvious to me (and I think to most Democrats in their heart of hearts) that Mrs. Clinton is incredibly corrupt. Lying and thieving. And her husband and their daughter (barely out of college and worth $15 million already) and their entourage. Not to mention our little Barry Hussein and AG Lynch. Perhaps Comey as well.

But only the Hildabeast is running for president. If she wins she will go down in history as the most corrupt president—even before she takes the oath. Fortunately it won’t really make all that much difference. Not even eight years of her.

As National Review’s Kevin D. Williamson puts it so well: “Yes, it matters who the president is, but not as much as we think. It matters what the character of our government is and who we entrust to run it, but not as much as we think. Jackass A or Jackass B will do his or her worst, to be sure, and the damage will be both real and painful, but America will go on, because America doesn’t actually need these jackasses as much as Americans think.”

Nor the furriners who have no vote and wring their hands over it all from a distance.

Here’s a real Independence Day

To the Hildabeast, Slick Willie and our little Barry Hussein: Fuck off.

“The attorney general secretly canoodles with the husband of the subject of criminal investigation by her own department and the president, the enforcer of our laws, shrugs. The media, the challenger of the powerful, smirks. They rub our noses in their contempt for the law. And by doing so, demonstrate their contempt for us…

“We are not all equal before the law. Our constitutional rights are not being upheld. We are not being defended – hell, we normals get blamed every time some Seventh Century savage goes on a kill spree. Yet we’re still supposed to keep going along as if everything is cool, obeying the law, subsidizing the elite with our taxes, taking their abuse.”

To the Hildabeast, Slick Willie and our little Barry Hussein: We owe you nothing. Not respect. Not loyalty. Not obedience. Try running a country whose citizens pay you no mind. No mind at all.

UPDATE:  Far as I’m concerned, Famous But Incompetent’s decision today not to prosecute the Hildabeast was no surprise. The way things work in Washington these days, it was only to be expected. And in no way does it change any of the foregoing.

Grizzley days these

“I think the word they are looking for is ‘grisly.’ This is the sort of mistake an intelligent high school student wouldn’t make, but those are the sorts of people who don’t seem to be going to work for outfits like CBS News anymore. It is also the kind of mistake that editors used to catch, back in the days when there were editors.”

Too true. Hard to know who to blame. In these days when even the daily farms its printing to San Antonio, its editing to Palm Beach and rumors are afoot of the impending sale of its building. But that’s newspapers. I suppose cBS has been in decline ever since old Dan Rather and his suspenders were booted from the air for reporting a “fake but accurate” story against W.

Lurch pretends to be baffled by Istanbul

Or maybe he really is. He is Lurch after all. Even our little Barry Hussein’s chief news media lapdog, MSNBC, is pretending to be perplexed by that attack at Istanbul’s airport.

Their headline: “Is there a pattern to recent terror attacks?”

Duh. Probably not enough gun control. Or homophobia. Brexit?

My free ebooks from Amazon

I got an email recently informing me I now have $180 in free gift card money from Amazon for buying ebooks. It was my “share” of a class action lawsuit by 33 attorneys general against Apple for price-fixing Amazon ebooks with five major publishers.

Not that I had anything to do with the suit. I’m happy with the result. I already bought a $10 book for free. But the big payoff the lawyers took home—$50 million—would have gone a lot farther. Oh, well, no surprise. I didn’t do the legal work and they did. A little disproportionate, considering I was probably out more than $180. But I did get to read the books.

And I still have $170 left to spend.

Vox populi, Vox dei

“This brings me to Donald Trump.  I plan to vote for him because he won the nomination fair and square.  I would rather vote for Abraham Lincoln, but he is not on the ballot.. I have two choices, and all the finely reasoned objections to him by highly educated intellectuals are so much hot air.  There is not going to be a Third Party candidate.  When I get in the voting booth there will be two names on the ballot and I am a Republican.”

Works for me, though I am not a Republican. Not to mention how awful another eight years of a Democrat would be. Not just the Hildabeast but any Democrat. You think the economy is bad now…
