Ready to freeze in the dark?

“The U.S. is already facing the loss of 60 gigawatts of power over the next three years, the result of older coal plants’ being forced to shut down because they cannot comply with the EPA’s Mercury and Air Toxics Standards enacted in 2012. At the time, the EPA claimed that only four gigawatts of capacity would be lost.

“Those of us familiar with the industry knew better, and the agency now does not contest that 60 gigawatts of coal-generated electricity will be lost. Ninety percent of the plants slated to close due to the MATS rule were needed to provide power during the polar vortex and other periods of severe weather last winter. Is the EPA willing to gamble that we won’t have another harsh winter in the next five years?”

Sure they’ll gamble, they don’t care about us peasants. WeatherBell Analytics, which has an awful good record, is forecasting this winter to be colder longer than last. Not that the federal Democrats give a rat’s. They got theirs, sucker.

The first lunar base, the first Martian colony, first mining of the asteroids… And not just because many scifi writers already are predicting it. But because the American political class will keep American companies grounded.

“Here’s the deal: SpaceX, as you may know, is making good on its promise to make access to space cheaper and more reliable. Their Falcon 9 rocket is putting payloads into orbit for less money than the big government contractors charge.

“As one might expect, [politicians] who have such contractors in their own districts and states are unhappy with this. And apparently some are willing to smear SpaceX as retribution.”

The Greens? Not yet. These are Republicans—the supposed champions of market capitalism. So, about that supposedly coming SpaceX spaceport near Brownsville in South Texas? It may never launch anything but red tape.

Ammo resupply to Israel held up

Used to be additional mortar and tank rounds were provided on Israel’s request. Now they, and more Hellfire missiles, require specific review by the Great Divider.

“A top Israeli official said the rift runs [deep]. ‘We’ve been there before with a lot of tension with us and Washington. What we have now, on top of that, is mistrust and a collision of different perspectives on the Middle East,’ the official said. ‘It’s become very personal.'”

“According to US officials cited in the Wall Street Journal report, the Wednesday night phone call between Obama and Netanyahu was ‘particularly combative.'”

Yeah, I’ll bet. Which underscores previous reports (officially denied) of Obamaloot’s imperious “demand” that Bibi halt Israel’s Gaza op.

UPDATE:  “We have to become more reliant on our defense and weapons capabilities and less on the United States, at least so long as this administration is in power. ‘Most pro-Israel administration evah’? You got to be kidding.”

MORE: Of course when he’s caught out, the Worm immediately pleads misunderstanding. Self-reliance would be best, however, since American pols can no longer be trusted to stick in private to policies stated in public. In other words, they’re liars.

She’s watching the polls (always), backing Bibi (for now), lamenting the jihadi takeover of Iraq (for now), and talking tough on the Russians and Iran (for now), all in obvious prep for her run for the White House in 2016.

And if she wins? Then we’ll see the duplicitous lizard emerge from behind the mask, slithering tongue and all, saying: “What difference, at this point, does it make?”

BTW, the White House’s latest opportunist, who is a master of deceit, says her criticism of his Syrian policy is “horsesh*t” —a substance the Classy One is a lot more familiar with than most.

Guilty of war crimes? Consider the UN

Not only did the Dictator’s Club (aka the UN) allow Hamas to store its rockets and other arms in the DC’s so-called schools and medical clinics, but it seems to have supplied the cement used in shoring up the walls of the attack tunnels.

So when the DC (odd how that abbreviation matches another one that seems to prefer Hamas to Israel) calls for investigation of alleged Israeli “war crimes,” it’s obvious whom the probe also needs to include—if not focus on entirely.

Israel double-standard time

Notice how our State Department and the Dictator’s Club (aka the United Nations) reserve their most-horrified rhetoric for Israel’s retaliation for months (nay, years) of Hamas rockets on Israeli civilians.

Do they expend the same outrage for the civilian slaughter in Syria and Iraq as they do for the perfidious Jews? Ho, ho. Next question.
