Barry hits bottom, digs

Barry campaigning in southwestern Virginia:

‘You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It’s still a pig."

Gosh, Barry, you are sooo classy. Gettin’ a little worried, are we?

MORE: Former Massachusettes Gov. Jane Swift wants Barry to apologize. It won’t help him if he does. Here’s the video. Don’t miss the crowd’s reaction, even before he finishes the cliche. They knew who he was referring to, even if he wants to play dumb and claim he didn’t mean Sarah.

UPDATE: Team McCain quickly responds with a pointed video ad. Nevermind his OODA Loop, they’re getting inside Barry’s head.

Mac takes majority of Independents

Gallup may be off here, but if it’s not, this thing is over before we even get to the "debates."

Adios Joe?

Unlike the ridiculous idea of Sarah’s self-destruction, Barry’s dumping of aging political plagiarist Joe Biden in favor of, say, Hillary Rodham, doesn’t seem so far-fetched. Some otherwise-sane people are betting on it. More likely, I think, is Barry finally accepting one of those town hall invitations that Mac has been extending since, oh, at least June–so I can retire the counter over there on the sidebar.

UPDATE:  Here’s Spengler, in the Asia Times, predicting Barry surely will lose without HRC.

Sarah & the media

The establishment media is whining, and Barry’s supporters are snickering, because Sarah is stiffing requests for interviews. It looks like ABC will get the first one. Big whoop. Mac and Sarah are being smart about this, slowly parceling out face time with the hottest player in this presidential election since, well, Barry himself, as it happens. It’s also a case of picking who you want to talk to. The latest edition of Newsmax.com, for instance, already has its exclusive interview. Heh.

The incomparable Treacher has a funny take on this, about Sarah avoiding such fading journalistic gems as Barbara Walters, who favors questions like, "If you were an igloo, what kind would you be?"

Sarah’s self-destruction?

That’s among the loopier ideas flowing into my OCS email group from the Barry supporters, of which there only seem to be four at the moment. One of them sees the odds of this startling event as 50/50. Perhaps the veteran Alaska politician is to be driven mad by the unsubstantiated rumors of the establishment media thugs? Another fellow is hearing buzz in his circles about "a coup and martial law," apparently to stop Barry from winning the White House.

So it goes, in what seems to be the beginnings of a goofy reprise of the Dem paranoia of 2004, when "I still have the hat" Kerry came under effective video fire from the POWs and Swiftboaters. This time, Mac the old fighter pilot, has outturned their jet by picking a fresh-but-tough young governor to compete with their tired-old-dog of a veep, strafed their canopy, and popped off an AIM-9 into their six.

For the moment the polls agree, showing Mac and Sarah ten points ahead. Can it last? I think so. Barry never had much going for him but excitement and Sarah’s stolen that from under his nose. Is it too late for the Dems to avoid derangement by learning some respect? Time will tell.

UPDATE: FWIW, Gallup is still finding a boost for Mac–now with a fifteen percent climb to take a majority of Independents.

What media bias?

Sarah rumor debunking

Actually it says there that it’s Palin Rumors Explorations, but it pretty much accomplishes debunking. Considering that we have nine weeks to go before the election and Obambi and his overpaid and unscrupulous backers in the establishment media are highly unlikely to give up without a fierce fight, the smears are only likely to increase. Making the site a pretty good antidote for the latest obnoxious claim. There are sixty-six of them there so far. On the mildly naughty side, it is fetching to know that "it appears that she has a Big Dipper tattooed on her ankle." The Big Dipper is Alaska’s symbol, you know.

MORE:  Even Obambi’s campaign site was getting into the smears. Not surprising since she has stolen his excitement (what else has he got) and Mac has stolen his message of hope and change.
