The “warmest temperature recorded” shuck

One of our local television station’s meteorology departments prints on their phone app the latest federal climate change do-dah, without any perspective at all: warmest October evah. Well, recorded, at any rate. Getting a little more serious with the claims, but not much.

Poppycock says a host of scientists: “Greenpeace Co-Founder Dr. Patrick Moore: ‘We are dealing with pure political propaganda that has nothing to do with science.'”

At Mizzou it’s all about powah

The protesters have it. The powah. Temporarily at least. Having ousted a university president. And they intend to hang onto it and remake the University of Missouri into Ferguson II.

A few local sportwriters I generally respect and one I consider a friend have written in support of the mostly-black Mizzou football team’s boycott threats, but I doubt even they won’t feel the need to retreat if this thing keeps getting out of hand.

Whatever the protesters believe, this ain’t the 1960s. That was so 45 years ago. And penny-ante bad words and possible hoaxes aren’t going to turn anyone into their allies forever. Even powah is fleeting. Ask any politician who’s ever had it for a while.

But, really, none of this is surprising. The American university died long ago. Done in by political correctness, micro-aggressions, and, increasingly, full-bore anti-Semitism.

UPDATE:  Tennessee law prof Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, would raise the voting age to 25. I’d go for thirty, except for those in military service who could vote at 18.

MORE:  Then they threw another tantrum when the Paris massacre drew media attention away from them. I’m sure they’ll be able to explain away the Muslim slayings.

No thanks, Michele

And to think I actually once supported this woman’s candidacy for president. Friends told me she was nuts. Now I know it.

“Former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann called for an intensified effort to convert Jews to Christianity.”

I presume she will not be reconstituting the Inquisition. We can only hope.

He said/ she said so much easier than thinking

“But The New York Times journalist, whose job it is to deliver the facts, does not mention the evidence which blows Palestinian alleged witness claims out of the water and which also belies Ashrawi’s unfounded allegation: the televised footage of Sider running with the knife.”

Hey, print journalists scorn the TV types. Video-schmideo. We all know how video can be doctored, right? Not nearly as easy as the print version, however, it must be said. Eh, NYTimes?

The Hildabeast wants your guns

It’s one thing to support gun control.  It’s another to make it the centerpiece of a floundering presidential primary campaign.  But Hillary Clinton wasn’t finished when she latched onto the idea of opposing the NRA as a means of diverting the nation from the humiliating scandals and poll results plaguing her own bid to succeed Barack Obama. First, she announced to her wealthy supporters that ‘the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment,’ which demonstrates her opposition to the individual right to keep and bear firearms, including handguns, for self-defense. Now, however, she’s gone even further and echoed President Obama’s references to Australian and British style gun control.

It’s highly unlikely the Democrats’ soon-to-be presidential nominee would have the guts to try and confiscate the guns of millions of law-abiding Americans. Even if it were possible, which she would soon find out that it isn’t.

She’s probably just lying, something she and her consort Slick Willie are noted for. But you never know. She’s also bat-shit crazy in a party of bat-shit crazies.

Apology Land

What a strange place the USA has become. Everybody is expected to apologize (indeed, the Democrat news media frequently demands it) for whatever they may say in public that isn’t PC or pleasing to some group or another.

Is this multiculturalism in action? Or just a temporary pyschosis?

Or, as PJMedia’s Roger L. Simon says: Does “the demand for the apologies [come] almost exclusively  from the [howling] left — a morally narcissistic group-think culture that relies on shaming others in order to obscure the truth and gain power”?

A pox on all their houses.
