The Dems phony “rape epidemic”

Of course you’d have to be awfully uneducated or just plain stupid to pay attention to anything Joey Hairplugs had to say. But this blather about female college students enduring a rape epidemic is not only wrong, it’s egregiously wrong.. The incidence of rape has been on a downward plunge since 1992.

But, then, egregiously wrong is a good definition of Joey, the career pol and Vietnam War draft dodger, who is the only reason most Republicans don’t want to impeach Wormtongue. Because then Joey would become president. Gag.

Shoot straight

Speaking of bullets and refused arms… Also just plain honesty, a notable Wormtongue deficiency.

I like Andy’s proposed replacement for the tiresome “Have a nice day.” It’s “Shoot straight.”

The latest from our robed rulers

A federal district judge has thrown out a key provision of the state’s new law regulating abortion clinics. It seems that health & safety isn’t important where killing the unborn is concerned.

“The law would require abortion facilities in Texas to meet hospital-level operating standards, which supporters say will protect women’s health. Clinics called it a backdoor effort to outlaw abortions…”

The state, of course, will appeal the decision. A previous reversal was overturned and that part of the law upheld. It’s a pity that states have to jump through these legal hoops. But that’s the situation we have: These unelected robed rulers of ours call the shots. And they call this democracy? Very funny.

Meanwhile, the country’s birth and fertility rates (the latter said to be more accurate) have fallen below replacement. The birth measure is below even Russia’s, which is also below replacement, and the declining American fertility measure is now converging with the low Russian one.

And, yes, those rates take into account the illegal Hispanics coming here.

Our eroding political culture

“Seriously, I hate the lowdown argot of politicians nowadays. They seem to think they are in a pool hall, and not a nice one, either. Both parties are guilty. I personally don’t like to be addressed or described as ‘folks,’ like some backwoodsman from Andrew Jackson’s day. I don’t care for the expression ‘shout out.’ I don’t like to be told, ‘Read my lips.’ I’m sure you can think of others.”

Not off-hand, no, but I agree we are led by intellectual midgets (and moral ones, too) who copy each other relentlessly. I think it all started with Slick Willie and Her Lizardness and if she winds up replacing B. Hussein, it’ll be more of the same.

At least she probably wouldn’t wear shorts in public like the Great Divider does, being rather too flabby, not to mention the blue veins. More likely she’ll wear big-boy pants, the kind that go down to the shoe-top.

Meanwhile she’ll say stupid things about the “threat” of global warming while hypocritically flying about in “a $39 million, 16-passenger” carbon footprint called a Gulfstream G450. The climate warriors never walk their talk.

Why we should be afraid of the police

“The buzz phrase in policing today is officer safety. You’ll also hear lots of references to preserving order, and fighting wars, be it on crime, drugs, or terrorism. Those are all concepts that emphasize confrontation. It’s a view that pits the officers as the enforcer, and the public as the entity upon which laws and policies and procedures are to be enforced.”

Thus Miriam Carey died under a hail of bullets from men who should have been ashamed when they found out she wasn’t armed.

Wonders the Cato Instititue’s Walter Olson: “Why would cops wear camouflage gear against a terrain patterned by convenience stores and beauty parlors?” To paraphrase Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, when you dress like a combat soldier you think and act like you’re in a war.

So thugs like Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin have learned to attack the trigger-happy cops first. The rest of us? We’re reduced to trying “to be careful out there” whenever a cop is around.

“—Individual cops may feel threatened— and may be threatened in the course of doing their jobs — but they still do not have the right to use more force than is necessary. Too often, panicked or angry cops pump multiple rounds into already-wounded suspects, as appears to have happened to Michael Brown.”

If Officer Friendly considers us an enemy to be vanquished, he’s a bomb ready to explode.

Good news: Al Jiz is a fizz

“CNN averages 453,000 viewers, AJAM (Al Jazeera America) has 17,000 viewers. Those are just different levels of failure. [Fox averages 1.7 million.]

“The difference is that CNN still has an enormous amount of impact on the national political and social conversation. As long as that impact exists, the Left is going to fund CNN.

AJAM has no impact. None. Zip. Nada. The network’s stories get zero traction. Not a single story, video clip, factoid, or interview has ever penetrated the news cycle in any way. AJAM is the proverbial tree in a forest no one hears fall.”

Could be that’s why terrorist-supporting Qatar’s baby went blatantly pro-Hamas when Israel fought back against the rockets. Gotta get an audience somehow, even if it means taking off the mask.

Why I’m not writing about Ferguson

Stacy McCain sums it up very nicely:

“The only reason the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, has become The Biggest Story in [the] History of the Whole Freaking World is that (a) Brown was black, and (b) the cop who shot him was white.

“That’s it — the whole story.”

And if the races were reversed: white victim, black shooter, cop or not, the dishonest media (remember Trayvon’s primary-school pix?), the usual race-baiters, the Great Divider and his criminal AG, would ignore it. Completely.

UPDATE:  One thing is for sure: Brown is another Trayvon, another low-life punk best left to the social workers: “Long before they encountered George Zimmerman and Darren Wilson, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown were on the downward path. Given their taste for dope, their instinct for defiance, and their predilection for violence, they were both likely to end up as killers or as killed.”
