Global warming takes a break

GlobalCoolingVery considerate of it, don’t you think? Funny how it can do that, eh?

School science project experiments

Whew. The six experiments for Mr. B.’s school science project took four hours. Not counting an hour’s worth of breaks, one of them a trip to the grocery for more supplies.

I hesitate to explain the thing until it’s turned in later this month and the grade is given. Who knows whether the competition might pass through. By then I will be able to post one of the pictures we took in documenting everything and the conclusions we drew.  Said conclusions remaining to be drawn, of course. The data collection was exhausting enough. We continue with the analysis tomorrow and Monday.

I will say that the experiments didn’t turn out the way we expected, probably partly because our methodology wasn’t very precise. Which is one reason I doubt AGW, because of what I’ve read of their methodology, it, too, is far from precise.

Missed the Ole Miss-OK State game, of course. Sorry State was shelacked, 21-7. Maybe it’s as well I missed it. To my Mississippi relatives who follow Ole Miss, congratulations!

Alas that gives the Big 12 a 3-3 record in bowls so far. Hope Tech wins tonight and, of course, Texas next Thursday to make the record a winning one.

Climate contrarian waffles

That’s me, the climate contrarian. I still think it’s overblown, if not altogether bunk. But I find this Scientific American answer to the seven most prominent quibbles reasonably persuasive.

UPDATE:  ON the other hand

Memo to the Global Warming Cult

Doctor Zero goes all out on Copenhagen and its calls for squeezing industrial economies:

"We’re not going to politely ignore swarms of private jets and limos ferrying you to carbon-belching ‘climate summits,’ where you draw up plans for the Western proletariat to live as primitive hunter-gatherers."

Heh. Worth a look.

Plane Stupid

Planestupid.com’s "beware global warming" ad has polar bears raining from the sky. They leave big blood smears as they smack into the sides of buildings on the way down. Besides being designed to upset children, it’s a really stupid (also sickening) ad for a cause that’s increasingly acknowledged to be fraudulent. Propaganda at its most preposterous.

More Kilimanjaro rubbish

That’s the trouble with the global warm-mongers. You can shoot down their arguments time and again and they just keep recycling them. Comes now an Ohio State researcher riding Al Gore’s favorite pony in claiming that global warming is doing in the glaciers on the famous African mountain. Only problem is there’s been no global warming for more than a decade.

That’s why the warm-mongers have taken to calling it "climate change." Get it? Anthony Watts shot this one down just last year, with data from a Harvard researcher, among others. Can you say: evapotranspiration impeded by deforestation from intensive farming? Sure you can. Fortunately, Watts is game to explain it once again, and with two new contradicting studies.

Questioning the Cassandras

It’s refreshing to see someone of the stature of George Will pointing out the contradictions in the global warming fraud, which Barry & the Dems are intent on using as an excuse to raise more taxes.

"By asserting that the absence of significant warming since 1998 is a mere ‘plateau,’ not warming’s apogee, the [New York] Times assures readers who are alarmed about climate change that the paper knows the future and that warming will continue: Do not despair, bad news will resume."

Will wants a federal commission to look into the discrepancies in the "theory" which the Cassandras are trying to ignore. Yes, at the very least, please. Meanwhile, there’s more opposition from a wholly unexpected quarter.
